”Through wisdom is an house builded; And by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled With all precious and pleasant riches.“

Proverbs 24:3-4

On the surface we are presented with a process of steps to build, establish and furnish a house.

Wisdom builds the house.

Understanding establishes the house.

Knowledge fills the rooms with precious and pleasant riches.

Taking this as an admonition financially, we see the importance of wealth building through Real Estate acquisition, improvement or remodeling and maintenance and the Value built by amassing goodly treasures we can use to improve our life and others.

On another level the passage carries a completely different meaning.

We see wisdom is establishing a household not structure but the organization and family. This would be, to utilize a Biblical reference. The House of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob or Israel. They turned a household into a country.

We see the same process here but in a different means.

Wisdom builds the household.

Understanding establishes the household.

Knowledge fills the chambers with all precious and pleasant riches.

Only with this inference the game is not generational wealth building but actual generational building.

On one hand we can see the chambers full of precious and pleasant children enjoying life and making life enjoyable.

On another we see the chambers full of people gathering for meals and holidays enjoying good food, good friendship and good times.

On another instance we see the house beset in a battle and on the inside, the citadel if you will, the chambers are filled with skilled warriors willing to do what it takes to protect the household.

Another time we see the house chambers filled with artisans and craftsmen building a beautiful place to enjoy and celebrate life.

Again we can see on a stormy night and desperate times a warm fireplace with ample room for those in the house to be safe, warm and sheltered.

These are a few instances, but the idea being presented is that we are to be building something more than a house as a storehouse for trinkets. We are instead supposed to be building a household that is a shelter and safe harbor from the trials and tribulations life conjures for us.

When seen from this perspective it is more obvious why we are to live goodly, wisely and wholesomely. We are not just building a place to hide and consume, as gluttons, what our flesh desires. Instead we are to build a household where we can be strong, safe, powerful and just. Then we are building a thing worth the time and effort of building.
