”It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: For the throne is established by righteousness.“
Proverbs 16:12
It appears this passage is worded to specifically point out the ruler. It states “it is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness:” it does not say, “it is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness:”
This appears to imply the guilt of committing wickedness will be applied as a charge of doing a disgusting thing against the king.
This means several things:
- There is someone that can charge the king with crimes.
- The king will be held accountable for their actions
- The someone that can charge the king with crimes and hold the king accountable for their actions is watching.
- If you are in a position of authority be vigilant to serve your people and position well. The authority was handed to you and you will be held accountable.
