”It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: But when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.“
Proverbs 20:14
One obvious explanation of this passage is to picture a negotiation for purchase.
The Seller asks for a certain amount and the Buyer counters with a lower price. The Buyer complains about all that is wrong with what is being purchased. The Buyer goes on about how bad the deal is and how they are being swindled, trying to get a lower price. However, once the purchase is made the Buyer tells how good of a deal he negotiated and is so proud of the new wonderful thing they got for such a low price.
Let’s be honest, if it was really a bad deal they probably would not be interested in purchasing.
Remember this tactic when selling goods or services. When the price is presented knowledge of the costs will bolster your salesmanship and help you negotiate a good sale.
